－Former Residence of Sadayakko Kawakami（旧川上貞奴邸）－
This is the former home of “Japan’s first actress”, Sadayakko Kawakami, and the “king of electric power”, Momosuke Fukuzawa, from the Taisho era to the early Showa era in Nagoya City in Aichi Prefecture. They were business partners.
When the house was first built, it was located in Higashi-Futaba-cho at the northern end of the Cultural Path district, the area stretching from Nagoya Castle to Tokugawaen. The house, which is a blend of Japanese and Western styles, was so opulent and radical that it was called the “Futaba Palace”.
The Cultural Path district was an area where the entrepreneurs that became leaders of modern industry hobnobbed with missionaries, journalists and all kinds of other people from the Meiji era through the early Showa era.
The house had a large modern hall with a spiral staircase and stained glass windows and became a salon where many famous people from various fields, including politics and finances, and people of culture, gathered.
The house was relocated to its current location in Shumoku-cho in February 2000. And it was restored as the newly-named Cultural Path Futaba Museum (Former Residence of Sadayakko Kawakami) in February 2005.
And now many Sadayakko-related materials as well as literature with a connection to the local area are stored and displayed there.
このお屋敷は、「日本の女優第一号」と謳われた川上貞奴と「電力王」と称された福沢桃介が大正から昭和初期にかけて共に暮らしていた家（旧川上貞奴邸）で、愛知県、名古屋市にあります。二人は事業のパートナーでした。
お屋敷ができた当時は、名古屋城から徳川園に至る「文化のみち」エリアの北端、東二葉町にありました。和洋折衷建築のお屋敷はとても豪華で斬新だったので「二葉御殿」と呼ばれていました。
「文化のみち」エリアは、明治から昭和の初めにかけて近代産業の担い手となった起業家たちが、宗教家、ジャーナリストなど様々な人々と親しく交流したとされる地域です。
螺旋階段やステンドグラスなどモダンな内装の大広間があるこのお屋敷は、政財界など各方面の著名人や、文化人が集うサロンとなりました。
2000年の2月にこのお屋敷は現在の橦木町に移築され、2005年の2月に「文化のみち二葉館」（旧川上貞奴邸）として復元されました。
現在は郷土ゆかりの文学資料とともにたくさんの貞奴関連資料が保存・展示されています。
