I went to Ikegami honmonji temple to look at sakura (cherry) blossoms yesterday (3.27.2021).
The Ikegami honmonji temple is the head temple of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism located in Tokyo’s Ota ward. It was built during the Kouan age of the Kamakura period in 1282, when Nichiren shonin (a founder of Nichiren sect) died.
Cherry blossom trees were in full bloom.
They were lovely.
The chelly blossoms and the temple’s five-storied pagoda was a beautiful juxtaposition between nature and architecture.
The five-storied pagoda was built in 1608 during the Keicho age of the Edo period when the second Tokugawa Shogun Hidetada was ill in order to wish for his full-recovery. It is the oldest five-storied pagoda in the Kanto area, and it has been registered as an important cultural landmark of Japan.
Amazingly, I found a place where I can see both Sakura and Momiji (Japanese maple) at the same time. It was like a magical moment in which spring and autumn coexisted simultaneously.
The contrast of colors was incredible.
昨日(2021.3.27)、池上本門寺へ桜を見に行きました。
池上本門寺は、東京都大田区にある日蓮宗の大本山です。日蓮宗の開祖である日蓮聖人が入滅された鎌倉時代弘安５年（1282)に建てられました。
五重塔と桜の風景がとても美しかったです。
五重塔は、江戸時代の慶長13年（1608)に徳川二代将軍秀忠の病気快方を願い建立されました。
国の重要文化財に指定されていて、関東最古の五重塔です。
驚いたことに、桜ともみじが色づいている風景に出会いました。春と秋が同時に存在しているような不思議なひとときを味わいました。
色のコントラストが素晴らしかったです。
